Dick Hetzel

Term: November 2021 - November 2024
Dick Hetzel
Dick Hetzel was sworn in as Council Member for District 6 in November 2021.  Previously he served as a City Council member from 2007 - 2011.  Mr. Hetzel has been a Cibolo resident since 1987.

As a former member of the Cibolo Economic Development Corporation, Mr. Hetzel supported appropriate new businesses for our City in order to reduce the tax burden on our residents.  As a former member of the Unified Development Code (UDC) Committee, changes were recommended to the Council to improve the City's development and building regulation to enhance quality construction in the City.  As Chair of the Charter Review Committee, we recommended changes bringing the City Charter in line with Texas State Law.  Other City activities I have been involved in include the Planning & Zoning Commission, Capital Improvement, and Board of Adjustment.  County activities included the Board of Adjustment for the Appraisal District, Alamo Regional Rural Planning Organization, JBSA Randolph Land Utilization Study, ACCOG Criminal Justice Advisory Committee, and the Alamo Senior Citizen Advisory Committee representing Guadalupe County.

As a Council Member, I have supported investing in the City's future through responsible Capital Improvement Projects.  I have been involved with facility projects, including the existing animal shelter, a new Police Station, Fire Station No. 2, procurement of the City Hall Annex, and most recently, the City Hall rehabilitation.  Infrastructure and Park improvements that I have supported include South Main St. Water Tower, Veterans Park, Schlather Park, Town Creek Drainage, linear park system, 2008 Bond Projects, and FM 1103 improvement bond.

Cibolo is a great place to live, work, and play.  The City offers unique and memorable special events, including Cibolofest, Christmas Tree Lighting, Memorial Day ceremony, Veteran's Day ceremony, Market Days, and Cibolo Summer Nights.  These events are all part of what makes Cibolo our community.  I'm especially proud of the City starting its first Senior Program in 2022 and supporting its continued growth as we move forward.  Through your efforts and support, we can continue to work together to keep Cibolo a great place.

On a personal note, I am happily married, a proud father of four, a grandfather to four, and a retired Colonel in the United States Air Force.  Subsequent to my time in the Air force, I was IT Director for Pabst Brewing Company and a Senior IT Auditor for approximately the last 20 years.
