The reconstruction of the intersection at FM 1103 and Cibolo Valley Drive will begin construction on August 27, 2018, weather permitting. FM 1103 will be increased from 3 lanes each direction to 5 lanes (west side) and 6 lanes (east side). Cibolo Valley Drive southbound will increase from 3 lanes to 6 total lanes. Main Street northbound will increase from 3 lanes to 4 lanes. The additional lanes will increase the traffic capacity of the intersection and make it safer for drivers.
The finished product will have crosswalks and a new traffic signal to make the intersection more pedestrian friendly. There will be sidewalks that connect to the crosswalks and increase the safety for our residents. As foot traffic is increasing to the downtown area, more safety precautions are needed.
There are no plans to stop travel through the intersection during construction. The entire project will take approximately 270 calendar days to complete. This project was part of the voter approved bond package from 2014.
The City of Cibolo encourages residents to plan accordingly and expect some delays in the area at peak traffic times.
Warning signs will be set up in the next two weeks to alert drivers that construction will be starting very soon. Attached is a graphic of the current intersection configuration with the new layout overlaid on the image.
