HR Manager Kristen Hetzel has accepted a job with the City of San Marcos to serve as their Human Resources Program Manager. Her last day with the City of Cibolo will be March 4th.

“I really treasure my time at Cibolo. These past nine years have been a blessing.” Hetzel said. “The opportunity to develop a department and watch the city and employees grow has been amazing. Cibolo has been my home (literally) and the employees here really let me experience that. Cibolo employees are hard-working, skilled, smart, and they really welcome everyone into their herd.” Hetzel has been critical in the employee policy development and moving the department into the cloud for enhanced services and transparency.

“I’m thankful for Kristen’s contributions to the City of Cibolo,” City Manager Wayne Reed said. “She has been instrumental in creating the Human Resources Department into what it is today and keeping Cibolo current in policies and procedures. Her thoughtfulness and positive demeanor will be missed, and I wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

Hetzel has 17 years of experience working in HR. Before coming to work for the City of Cibolo, she worked as a Senior Human Resources Analyst and Human Resources Coordinator where she provided employee relations and general human resources services to local governments.

A graduate of St. Mary’s University with a master’s in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, she used her educational background to improve the HR policies and procedures for employees and employers. Hetzel grew up in Cibolo and is proud to have served her hometown. Hetzel is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management and International Public Management Association for Human Resources. She is also a Certified Public Manager (CPM), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), and a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
