Bringing Walmart to Cibolo is a fine idea but not at Borgfeld Road! The intersection with the Elementary School across the street is the worst place this city could think of to put a Walmart. Look at the area around FM 78 and Main Street... The traffic flow would be much easier and would not disrupt our community and impact the safety of our children.

It is going to be next to impossible to get businesses to come to cibolo with the real estate prices here. I mean $465,000 per acre come on. These real estate investors (vultures) have moved in and are going to kill the economy before it even get's started. What can the city of to offset this ? What can they do to assist businesses in settling here ? Start a small business development council - obtain federal grants - and start programs to lure businesses here. Offer training, business develop grants and loans, etc......

The small, but lovely, downtown of Cibolo (Emily's, Catalano's, Harmon's) is a fantastic face for Cibolo and was a draw for me as a resident. Revitalizing and expanding the small, unique business area in downtown Cibolo would create a strong draw for new residents while helping create an identity for Cibolo, instead of fading away into obscure suburbia.
The construction of the Walmart and HEB at either ends of Main Street will be detrimental/catastrophic to many local businesses (especially a small local grocer), but is inevitable. A downtown revitalization program that includes entrepreneurial assistance, permitting and inspection cost breaks for locals, sidewalk expansion, and demolition or refurbishment of the older, abandoned buildings in the area could do a lot for the character and economy of Cibolo while assuaging those angered by the Walmart construction.

All that space and waste of money on maintenance for one day a year? Bad planning. Can we buy back some of Walmarts too? It's so big and empty and ugly.

One of the greatest shortages in the housing market is housing in-between apartments and single family houses. Cibolo, as a quiet suburb in an exciting city has a lot of potential to provide it. Build some apartments above shopping centers along Main Street like Artessa at Quarry Village in San Antonio with some town-homes within walking distance. Downtowns across the US are dying because people would prefer if they are going to drive to drive into the city. Make them accessible by bike and foot and you eliminate this impulse somewhat.

Having to go to the H.E.B on Hwy I35 is such a pain and way too crowded. It would be nice to have a H.EB here in cibolo to go to.
