City of Cibolo Names Thedrick Andres as the Next Chief of Police

The City of Cibolo, where positive change and growth have been continuous, announces Thedrick Andres as Cibolo Police Department’s (CPD) next Chief of Police.

Andres is a seasoned police executive with more than 30 years of law enforcement and leadership experience. Andres comes to Cibolo from his most recent role as Chief of Police in Henderson, Nevada, where he retired earlier this year to relocate back to Texas to be near family. Prior to his position in Henderson, Andres served in leadership roles with Arlington (TX) Police Department for several years. His career encompasses all ranks in law enforcement including patrol, investigations, specialized units, and leadership roles. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Andres brings a collaborative and inclusive approach to his work. He has a proven track record of building and expanding relationships with business owners, civic leaders, and community members. He firmly believes in the power of relational policing, partnerships, and community engagement to affect meaningful change.

Andres will take the helm of the Cibolo Police Department next month. He succeeds Interim Chief of Police John Wells and former Chief of Police Bryan Hugghins, who now serves as the Executive Director of Safety & Infrastructure. Andres’ appointment concludes a six-month national search. “The path to this decision spanned many applicants and ultimately resulted in the successful recruitment of a talented leader to join our Cibolo community. Thedrick brings a wealth of leadership experience and a passion for positive change. With his exceptional leadership skills coupled with extensive law enforcement knowledge, I am confident that Thedrick is the right leader to guide our police department towards achieving even greater heights in alignment with our mission and vision,” said Wayne Reed, City Manager for the City of Cibolo.

Reflecting on his new appointment, Andres shared, “I am very excited to lead the team at CPD. To join such a well-established and professional agency and to have the opportunity to build on the achievements of the past is a true honor and one that I take very seriously. I am committed to supporting and furthering the city’s priorities, and I am eager to build a community of my own here as I make the move from North Texas to South Texas. I firmly believe that the most effective solutions are created through collaboration and active involvement of stakeholders, and I look forward to learning from, listening to, and partnering with everyone.”

Reed added, “We feel confident that Thedrick possesses the unique blend of skills police departments require in driving lasting change at the local, regional, and state level. Further, we believe he’s an excellent fit for our growing city and our police department.”
