Project Lifesaver

Project Lifesaver is the premier search and rescue program operated internationally by public safety agencies, and is strategically designed for "at risk" individuals who are prone to the life threatening behavior of wandering. The primary mission of Project Lifesaver is to provide timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the propensity to wander due to a cognitive condition.

The Cibolo Police Department (CPD) has training and equipment through Project Lifesaver International that assists with locating individuals signed up with the program. Participants receive a wristband with a tracker that can only be located by the specialized equipment owned by certified agencies. Participants check in once a month with program personnel to do a battery exchange and locator testing. The band can be worn on the wrist or ankle and can only be cut off. Special leather straps are available as well.

Client Sign Up
Clients (seniors, adults, or youth) must be under 24/7 care and have a diagnosed cognitive condition. Caregivers must be willing to do a 5 second daily battery check and log. Click here to complete a program interest form to be contacted by a Cibolo Project Lifesaver team member. If accepted, there is a more thorough intake packet.

Donations
Each transmitter with one year supply of materials costs $350.00 and about $20 a year after the initial 12 months. This program is only possible by our generous donors. Click here to complete a donation interest form to be contacted by a Cibolo Project Lifesaver team member.

Thank you to Randolph Field Realty, Inc., Whataburger, and the Schertz-Cibolo Lion's Club for their generous sponsorship in donating funds for at least one transmitter.

Search Team
Each member of the Cibolo search team is vital to "bringing loved ones home." We welcome all those who would like to assist in a search. You can be a team member or certified as an Electronic Search Specialist (ESS). An ESS is trained on how to use the equipment. If you would like to be a part of the search team, please click here to complete a search team interest form. CPD has four trainers that can work with your schedule. The training takes two 8 hour sessions.
