The City will be hosting an open house at City Hall on Thursday, March 7, to promote the work to date to update the City’s Comprehensive Plan and in advance of upcoming public presentations and hearings on elements in the plan.

We want our residents, homeowners, and community to know about the progress of the Comprehensive Master Plan Update that has been led by our Master Plan Advisory Committee (MPAC) and to provide educational material to explain what the Comprehensive Master Plan Update is and what it is not. Our goal is for attendees to walk away with information so that they can educate others on the components of the Comprehensive Master Plan Update and IH-10 Corridor Plan. By the end of the Open House, residents will know about the next steps and opportunities to provide feedback as we enter the stage of holding public hearings and seeking adoption over the next few months. 

At the event, stations will be set up that will cover the following:

• MPAC & Community Engagement
• Vision Statement
• Guiding Principles
• Place Types & Future Land Use Map (FLUM)
• Master Thoroughfare Plan (MTP),
• Implementation/Action Items
• Feedback and Next Steps.

Each of these stations will also include comparisons of the 2016 update and the proposed/draft items of the 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update. 

The Open House will held at City Hall, located at 200 S. Main St. from 6 PM  to 8 PM on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
